St. Patrick's Society of Montreal Update
Posted by: Fergus_Keyes - 02-06-2009, 03:12 PM - Forum: News - Announcements - Events - No Replies

St. Patrick?s Society of Montreal Update

As mentioned before, this is the 175th Anniversary of the St. Patrick?s Society of Montreal and they have a number of special events planned.

They also have a new & revised web site found at: http://www.spsmtl.com
(By the way, the United Irish Societies also have a new web site that has been updated in the ?Links Section? on this site).

Some highlight events include:-

McCord Exhibition: The St. Patrick?s Society along with other groups have financed the opening a special Montreal Irish Exhibition which will open at the McCord Museum starting around March 19th 2009. It will last about 18 months, and I believe that one section will be dedicated to Rural Irish in general - with specific mention of our St. Columban ancestors.

The St. Patrick?s Ball ? The annual Ball will take place on March 6th at the Marriott Champlain Hotel.

The St. Patrick?s Luncheon ? This event is scheduled for March 17th at 11:00am at the Hilton Bonaventure Hotel

The St. Patrick?s Day Parade ? The Parade will be held on March 22nd this year and St. Patrick?s Society would like to hear from anyone that would like to march with the Society (I don?t believe that you have to be a member to take part).

Details (Costs; times etc.) of these, and other upcoming events, can be found on the new site (http://www.spsmtl.com
) and you are now able to reserve and pay on-line to attend any, or all, of these activities

At this point I don?t believe that you can apply "on line" for a new membership in the St. Patrick?s Society of Montreal, but I?m sure you can express your interest in an e-mail to them?

Hi everyone,

not a real active user, but a serious reader. just Wanna say that this board gave me a lot of info i was looking for, and i think this could be a great time to show you some pictures i made from my piece of country.......

comments are welcome, i am not a professional photographer, more like an advanced amateur. ?I came here (st-colomban) when i was 9, and 25 years later, i am more than in love with this peaceful part of the Laurentians. some of the pictures include soft HDR processing.

All pictures were taken in St-Colomban. Next summer ill go on a photoshoot on the cemetery and a few important buildings.... if you have any suggestions, feel free.

enjoy,
