For people not on our direct e-mail list, here are some notes from yesterday's meeting held on Saturday, October 21 2006....
Here are some notes from our St. Columban event meeting from yesterday, Saturday, October 21st 2006.
1. We agreed on one name for the event to use on all promotion & printed material as follows:
?Remembering St. Columban ? an Irish Journey?
? And in French?.
? Se souvenir de Saint-Colomban, Un voyage irlandais ?
2. We also agreed that the production will be to some extent, bilingual ?English & ? ? French?
3. Fergus & Claude will share the function of Master of Ceremonies / Introduction
4. The format for the production will be as outlined by Peter Gossage with Peter, Kelley (and I would suspect Michael Kenneally) all contributing to the text.
5. We will ask Jeff to modify the Flyer(s) to include Peter?s title; the co-master of ceremonies changes; and mention again that it will be bilingual. Once these changes are complete, Anne will see if she can translate the flyer(s) to French.
6. Ken will arrange with the Oscar Peterson centre to print the actual tickets and Kelley will keep the tickets and arrange for distribution to the individual purchasers and/or descendants that want a number of tickets to sell.
7. Fergus will start the Public marketing campaign in the next week or so and will attempt to find some advertisers/sponsors for the event. Ken is working on the preparation of the actual publication of the Play Bill.
8. Kelley is asking any of the descendants and friends of St. Columban to send her any copies of letters; postcards or any other photos or documents that will put a ?human Face? on the production. She hopes to be able to incorporate some of these letters etc. into the production.
9. Claude will check of the cost to build or rent the ?elastic? entrance. This item was suggested at our last meeting and is a little hard to explain in writing. It involves a large square box that then in covered in big elastic bands. The images are then projected onto these elastic bands and the performers can enter the stage via this unit. What it does is make it seem like the artists are actually coming out of the image that is being projected ? hope that makes sense!
10. We have also decided to look into a post production wine and cheese event. As mentioned we cannot actually sell wine and beer but we can charge for example $ 15.00 to attend this event and meet the producers and artists and include free wine and cheese in the event. Ken is investigating this possibility. It would involve people purchasing additional tickets to attend this event immediately after the show.
11. It also suggested that Peter Gossage will attend the next meeting and if possible perhaps Michael and the Bernadette might also be able to attend ? it is scheduled for Saturday. November 4th at Kelley?s
12. Claude?s niece along with a young lady from Concordia University will start making a video of our meetings, project etc. in the hope of being able to produce a CD of the event that we might be able to sell on the site.
13. We still need an idea of the costs for the artists ? the band; dancers and signers (if we decide to use a singer(s) for the event.)
14. Pattie reported that the John Abbott college drama department has agreed to help in anyway they can - including perhaps providing us with a Production Co-Coordinator or young actors, if needed.
15. Kelley also is considering using some period costumes in the production ? if again if it is possible to arrange.
So the project moves along. Anyone that attended the meeting and notices something that I missed please let me know. Otherwise, let?s hope all the descendants and friends of this project can help to promote the ticket sales and, of course, find any advertisers or sponsors that you can for the event.
Next meeting as mentioned is on Saturday, November 4th 2006
